Attracting more than 3.5 million visitors annually, Duluth dining options range from water-view venues overlooking Lake Superior to more than 50 restaurants downtown, the latter made all the more palatable for year-around patronage by a climate-controlled skywalk. Menu diversity stretches from the so-called “hot dish” -– a Minnesota tradition with oft-adventurous ingredients typically steeped in canned veggies and/or cream of mushroom soup -– to finer dining including steak and seafood, plus international fare from Chinese and Vietnamese to Italian and south of the border favorites. Pizza places are plentiful, and many cafes and coffee houses, including Beaner’s Central, Coho Café, and Starbucks, stoke up menu specialties with wireless Internet access. Chains abound in and around Duluth from Perkins and Red Lobster to Famous Dave’s, inviting one and all to get sauced on legendary pit-smoked ribs.
